What I learnt today:
I've learnt how to differentiate the type of information that I can take from the internet, for example, an advocacy article is something that invokes readers to heed their advice, e.g; saving endangered animals, boycott Macdonalds and so on. During class, we were told to find articles on the web based on the topic we chose, and I chose selective mutism among youths. A corporate website would be something that ends with a .org, and is officially listed. While forums are places where users get together to discuss a certain topic and news are articles usually with a date and recent incidents happening around the topic.
*On a side note*
I learnt what selective mutism is. :D

EIR - Post No. 1
Hi.
My name is Rong Yi, surname Lim, some people call me Easy, (no pun intended) some don't.
I'm currently pursuing a diploma in Product & Industrial Design (currently 2nd year). Gaming, Jamming and sports are some of my favourite past time activities. I game a lot, my favourite games are shooters, (partly because I can't do it in real life).
I am the bassist in my amateur band, we generally do covers, from classic rock such as Guns & Roses, Bon Jovi,Deep Purple or Metallica to modern rock such as Green Day, Muse, and Paramore. Time to time we also do rock renditions of pop artists such as Lady Gaga or One Republic.
My favourite genre of music is rock, because rock expands out to a lot of sub-genres, such as alternative, classic, indie, modern or hard rock. Some of my favourite bands include:
Alternative: Muse/Oasis
Christian: Switchfoot
Classic: Guns & Roses/Motley Crue/Beatles/Iron Maiden/AC.DC
Funk: Red Hot Chili Peppers
Hard Rock: Velvet Revolver/Slash
Heavy Metal: Anthrax/Metallica
Indie: Cage The Elephant/Silversun Pickups
Jap: Gazette
Melodic Death Metal: In Flames
Progressive Rock: Dream Theatre
And lots more...
I generally don't watch TV, unless I'm having my lunch or dinner at home, because I prefer to use the computer to look for information, but if I happen to be watching TV, i tend to watch Tom & Jerry, Spongebob Squarepants, Bizzare Foods With Andrew Zimmern and Top Gear.
I like to hang out just about anywhere with my friends, usually I will go cafes such as Starbucks but recently my friends are starting to get the hang of alcohol, and are introducing me to places such as Mango, Timbre and Arab Street.
I like hanging out on Facebook, Wiki and Youtube on the cyberworld. I generally go to youtube to find instructional videos ranging from cooking, basketball skills, gaming tips and so on.
I am a fan of basketball, because nothing makes me happier than hitting a jump shot from beyond 2 metres, I mean, I play soccer too but scoring just makes me go 'meh'. One thing I like about basketball is hitting a jump shot even if I'm heavily defended. I've seen stars such as Pau Gasol, Karl Malone and Dwight Howard scoring because they usually shimmer left and right to trick the defender into going to the wrong direction.
